The Diamond in the rough of coffee beans. If you want to try some of the rarest beans in the world the Gesha varietal is where you'll find it. So what makes this type of coffee bean so rare and so valuable?

The Gesha coffee is a sub-species of coffee bean which originates from the arabica varietal of coffee, one of the most popular craft coffee varietals today. This bean originates from the Gori Gesha Forest in Ethiopia, hence the name, and was transplanted in Panama in the 1960s. This is a very temperamental coffee to grow and it requires very specific conditions in order for there to be a successful harvest.

We were very lucky to land this bean, and have a few green bags that we are planning on roasting! Our bean comes from the Dominican Republic from Panama. if you want more info about the history of this bean check out this awesome link!
